We drove to Staten Island, New York this past weekend to visit my grandparents. This was Jacob’s first road trip, and he did well! We were on “Jacob Time,” so when he woke up in the morning I called my parents–we were going to be leaving in about 45 minutes. I fed Jacob, Gia and Papaw arrived, and we were out the door.  We didn’t hit any traffic on the way up and Jacob slept the entire 3.5 hours.

Our visit was short; we only stayed one night. My Grandma and Grandpa were excited to see their first great-grandchild. Jacob was on his best behavior and showed off is new skill:  babbling.

The trip home took a little longer, but Jacob was a trooper for most of it. He woke up after 4 hours in the car and was hungry. We stopped for dinner, everyone ate, and then we finished the trip home. Bailey was at his dog walker’s house for the weekend, having a little vacation of his own.  This trip was just a quick preparation for our road trip in two weeks to Savannah, Georgia and then to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Bailey is going back to Mike’s house and Jacob is in for a long 9+ hour car ride.
